Camp Staff Essentials

Practical preparation for your whole summer team

This 2–3 hour training, depending on staff size, helps counselors, group leaders, and camp directors understand their responsibilities and feel more prepared for the summer.

Through discussion and real camp scenarios, staff work through supervision, behavior management, communication, professionalism, and knowing when to ask for help. They consider how their choices affect campers and the rest of the team.

Sticky Situations

What would you do? Real camp scenarios for summer staff.

Already had Allie train your team? Bring her back for a different session the following year.

Sticky Situations gives staff a chance to work through challenging camp situations, explain their decisions, and learn from one another. What should you do first? What do you say to the camper? When do you involve a supervisor?

Developed as a second training for returning departments, this session gives your team fresh situations to discuss and more opportunities to practice making decisions.

  • Allie Lane’s summer counselor training was a fantastic experience for our team at Southborough Recreation. She brought great energy, insight, and real-world experience to our summer orientation, helping staff feel confident and prepared for the seven weeks ahead.

Christina McCarthy, Program Coordinator Southborough Recreation

    ★★★★★

  • “Working with Allie Lane and MCP inspired our counselors to understand the true impact they have on participants in our summer programs. Through real-life scenarios and practical strategies, our staff learned how to confidently manage challenging behaviors while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. More importantly, Allie emphasized that our staff are more than counselors, they are role models and memory makers

Tricia Sardagnola Recreation Coordinator - Programs Shrewsbury Recreation Department

    ★★★★★

  • This training was the perfect fit for our summer program. Although we have a staff of only six, our team is small but mighty. The training helped make this the smoothest summer I’ve experienced in my five years of running a day program, and I think that speaks volumes about its impact. It provided our staff with practical tools, valuable strategies, and the confidence to handle the challenges that can arise throughout the summer season.

    Michael Brunelle Southbridge Recreation Director

  • “Deliverables arrived ahead of schedule, enabling us to accelerate our own client commitments without risk.”
